South African LNG company DNG Energy has received final authorization from the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) to commence LNG bunkering operations at the Port of Coega in the Eastern Cape.
Aldworth Mbalati, Group CEO of DNG Energy, expressed that South Africa is set to become a prominent LNG bunkering hub in the Southern Hemisphere.
This license allows the company to meet environmental, legislative, and business demands in both the South African and international LNG fuel markets. As a first for Africa, it enables DNG Energy to utilize its floating storage unit (FSU) in Algoa Bay for offshore and onshore logistics, including ship-to-ship transfers and LNG “milk runs” throughout the country.
Mbalati noted that this license paves the way for LNG delivery in South Africa soon. The company will now focus on finalizing its terminal infrastructure at Algoa Bay and completing the delivery of its storage and bunkering equipment.
